The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Marin Alsop, will perform a world-premiere of composer Philip Glass’ Overture for 2012. This piece, commissioned by the state of Maryland and the City of Toronto, Canada, is a companion piece to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. The symphonic work honors the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and highlights the upcoming Star-Spangled Sailabration.
