Seahawks Make A Statement Monday Night

UnknownThe Monday Night Football game between the Saints and the Seahawks promised a great contest between the top two teams in the NFC. The Seahawks set out to make a statement and prove that there is a large gap between one and two in the NFC.

Mission accomplished! The Seahawks had their way with the Saints at home in Seattle, winning by a convincing score of 34-7. With the win, Seattle improves to an 11-1 record on the season, a full two games above the next NFC teams, which are the Saints and the Panthers.

Seattle made the NFC and the rest of the NFL realize a couple of terrifying facts with the win against the Saints Monday night.

One, the Seahawks defense can halt any offense that comes their way. Drew Brees went into the game Monday night averaging over 300 yards passing per game on the season. The Seahawks defense held Brees to just 147 yards passing on Monday.

Two, Russell Wilson is for real. Wilson breezed his way to a 310 yard passing game, with 3 touchdown passes, a QBR (Quarterback Rating) of 94.7 out of a possible 100, and tacking on another 47 yards rushing. Wilson has yet to lose a game at home as a starting QB, is 22-6 as a starter, and his touchdown pass stats from his first two years in the NFL rival those of Dan Marino and Peyton Manning.

Three, there is a large gap between the Seahawks and the next NFC team. Going into Monday, the question was, “who can stop the Saints in the NFC?” Well there is now an obvious answer: the Seahawks. The Seahawks took arguably the second-best team in the NFC and a top 3 team in the NFL and just made them look foolish.

Four, the Seahawks don’t lose at home. Monday’s win over the Saints now marks 14-straight wins at home at Qwest Field. It doesn’t seem to matter who it is that walks in to Seattle to face the Seahawks, because the end result is always the same. Oh, and now the Seahawks are looking at home-field advantage through the NFC playoffs. If that doesn’t scare you, I don’t know what will.

And five, the Seahawks don’t lose at home! Just wanted to make sure that point was clear.

With four games left in the season, it seems as if the road to the Super Bowl is going to go through Seattle and the 12th man in the stands, who set a new Guinness World Record for sound at a football game, reaching a decibel level of 137.6. That level of sound rivals a jet engine. The Seahawks made a statement to the NFL that they are definitely the team to beat.
