Looking for something fun, fact-filled, and free to do with your family? A visit to the Hampton National Historic Site may be the perfect thing! In the early 1800s, Captain Charles Ridgley had the beautiful mansion built as his “Palace in the Wilderness”, and it later housed his nephew, Governor Charles Ridgley and his family, servants, indentured slaves, British prisoners of war, and craftsmen. The mansion is not only a historical gold mine, but an aesthetic must-see. The site offers free tours of the mansion and the lands, or feel free to explore the wealth of artifacts and scenery on your own! Find out more on the website!
