Get ready to hear some “O’s” screamed during the National Anthem for the first time this season.
The birds are back in town this Friday as the Baltimore Orioles head back to Camden Yards for their 2015 home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays.
For the first time in 17 years, the O’s head into a season as the defending AL East Champs. They finished last year’s regular season with a 96-66 record and made it all the way to the ALCS before being swept by the Kansas City Royals.
O’s fans will shake off the pain of how last season ended, and proudly welcome the birds back to Baltimore on Friday when Bud Norris will take the mound against Mark Buehrle.
They may have lost slugger Nelson Cruz and crowd favorite Nick Markakis, but the O’s get Manny Machado and Chris Davis back, with Matt Wieters making good strides to come back to the lineup soon as well.
The O’s are off to a strong start this year, taking two out of three from the Tampa Bay Rays in their opening series of the season.
Now it’s time to see if the O’s can take the next step forward and accomplish something they haven’t done since 1976…repeat.
