Warehouse Eyes comes appears again with its follow up record, Prisms, is a wealth of space, dreamy pop fusion. Warehouse Eyes, expands its horizons in delving deeper into their sound and Prisms is the result of this new discovery of sound for them. The band, originally created through the friendship of Christopher Williams and Jennie Lawless, has an entrancing musical sound similar to bands Son Lux, which many may know for having its song “Lost it to trying” in the motion picture, “Paper Towns.” Warehouse Eyes, also has hints of Phantogram, who gained notoriety through its single “When I’m small”.
Jennie Lawless voice is a mix of the high of Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, with some Karen O thrown in as well. Songs like “Emma” and “The same dream” were the highlights musically of this EP. Though predominately a synth alt-pop band, there is definitely underlings of alternative/indie rock music which in the songs mentioned previously, are spearheaded by the drums and distorted guitars. With all this in mind, the EP is lacking; it leaves the listener wanting so much more. Jennie Lawless is vocally sound, there are instances where you would want her to explore her vocal ability and expand her range. It can come of boring at times when she stays within a range she is clearly comfortable with. Unfortunately, though the EP has so much potential, it does die of musically after “Emma” where musically it can become boring, repetitive and mundane.
