The Happy Fits released their sophomore album “What Could Be Better” in August of 2020, a delightful compilation of upbeat rock tracks that explore the idea of growing up.
For their second studio album, The Happy Fits absolutely killed it. This album not only has a remarkable mix of genres, but the infusion of word beats and mature lyrical themes demonstrates the band’s ability to creatively infuse folk elements into their indie-rock roots. The genre disorder that distinguishes The Happy Fits is strengthened on this album through strikingly fuller-sounding instrumentation. Over the course of their career, the band has had to find ways to incorporate the use of the cello in a genre mostly dominated by guitars. This means uncovering the best ways to record it and figuring out how to bring out the desired sound onto a digital streaming platform.
I had the privilege to see The Happy Fits on their tour promoting this album, and their growth is amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next.
