History of Charm City Radio – WLOY Loyola Radio

We are in the process of developing a detailed history of radio broadcasting in Baltimore since the dawn of broadcasting. This will include detailed histories of many of the earliest stations in the US and some amazing broadcasting ‘firsts’ which occurred here in Baltimore. We’re starting with the AM call signs since they are the oldest ones. We have also included the original stations, which predate the formation of the Federal Communications Commission and were original regulated by the Federal Regulatory Commission from 1926 until 1934. We will include as many of the short-lived early experimental radio stations from the Baltimore region as well. In the future we hope to add images and more links to vintage radio pages and information. Who knows… maybe there’s a book in this thing!
