I have the chills, but that’s not because this winter has been brutally frigid here in Baltimore. In my short life, I have found that great music is goosebump-inflicting, and I am afflicted, thanks to Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra. Released on February 9, 2018, Stereoscope is the four-piece’s second full album. Compared to Stereoscope‘s predecessor, Pray for Rain, which has a lot of blues and traditional folk influences, Stereoscope sounds like Bon Iver with a twist. Stereoscope has a lot more string instruments, modern folk influences, and light rock influences. All in all, it’s a great album to listen to while reading (or prepping for a philosophy exam), in bed, under the covers, on a rainy Saturday. Here’s why:

Originally from Brooklyn, NY Bear Hands releases their new album , You’ll pay for this earlier this month. The band comprised of, Dylan Rau, Ted Feldman, Val Loper, TJ Orscher characterizes themselves as being Alternaitive/Indie rock, as ambiguous as the sounds, so is the music on the album. It definitely genre bends, though at the core of the music, it is very much Bear Hands’ sound.

Sabrina Starke-Sabrina Starke

Born in Paramaribo, Suriname and raised in the Netherlands, Jazz, R&B, soul, folk fusion artist, Sabrina Starke released her self- titled album Sabrina Starke. If you like Nina Simone, Tracy Chapman or Billie Holliday, you will enjoy Starke and her album.

Miss Massive Snowflake – The Final Photograph

North Pole Record’s artist, “Miss Massive Snowflake”, released the album The Final Photograph not too long ago. The band, a trio, comprised of: Shane de Leon, Jeanne Kennedy Crosby and Andy Brown brings a mixture of psychedelic rock, some pop and jazz to make up the album.

Luke Graham-Blue

Lukas Graham, originally from Christiania an artistic community in the middle of Copenhagen, released his second studio album, Blue  through Warner Bros. Records. Originally garnering American buzz and success from his song, “7 years”, the album is a kind of a disappointment. Blue, is pretty stagnant and does not drift far, melodically from 7 years. Graham however, does try to explore other genres of music: some R&B, some funk, etc. but it ends up making the album come off sloppy and disjointed.
