Top 40 11.19.10

This week a new artist makes a debut at the top spot! The Naked & Famous is a group from New Zealand that effectively blend the musical styles of Passion Pit and M83 into an incredibly catchy indie-pop that gets stuck in your head. Warning: this group may become your new favorite band.

Top 40 10.20.10

This week’s Top 40 is inspired by Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips! We all know that the Flaming Lips are a little “spaced out” and experimental, but Wayne has taken his experimental nature to a new level by printing band posters with his (Yes, his) blood! The design is a giant human skull with a psychedelic disco ball cranium. I’m sure thousands of fans are eager to acquire Wayne’s artwork, but this was only a one time deal. Kudos to Wayne for his artistic abilities and devotion to the Flaming Lips!

Top 40 9.21.10

This week we have Arcade Fire maintaining the number one spot, with Brandon Flowers working his way up to the top with his new solo album, Flamingo. This week’s top 40 is inspired by Paul “Bear” Vasquez, creator of the youtube phenomenon, Double Rainbow! “It’s so bright and vivid!” “What does this mean?” Well, it means that there are some great bands on the top 40 for your listening enjoyment! I’m so happy I can’t stop crying!

Top 40 5.10.10

Well, well, well.  Freelance Whales take over the #1 spot this week knocking of MGMT’s 2 week run @ #1.  We see some debuts from Keane as well as the Deftones.  This week’s top 40 chart is inspired by BONO.  He turns 50 today (5/10) and those glasses he keeps wearing makes him look no older than 45 I say.  Rock on BONO!

Top 40 for the Week of 5.3.10

Not a whole lot of changes here folks. MGMT remains at #1.  Some debuts by Manchester Orchestra, Taylor Locke, and Kate Nash.  The top 15 remain pretty much unchanged.  This week’s chart is inspired by Conan O’Brien and his beard.  Because without his beard…Conan would probably not be doing what he is doing right now…kickin butt on tour, new TV show in November, and telling NBC what the deal is!!!!! Yeeehaw!!! (why did i just do that)

TOP 40 for the Week of 4.26.10

Ahhhhh! Riding off of their recent “SNL” performance, MGMT takes over the #1 spot from the Gorillaz.

Two Door Cinema Club and Taylor Hawkins also make big splashes onto the countdown.

This week’s chart is brought to you by Tim Tebow. Welcome, to the NFL buddy. Have fun riding the bench…cause you definitely won’t be playing QB anytime soon.

(editors note: if it’s all the same to you, we’d like to just pretend that Rich got this one right, ok? No reason to make him feel any worse about it…)

Top 40 for the Week of 4.12.10

We have a new #1 for this week.  Frightened Rabbit slowly made its way to the top spot this week, knocking off fellow UK band Mumford and Sons.  We also see a huge debut from Queens, NY based band Freelance Whales.  This week’s top 40 is inspired by Phil Mickelson. He showed us this week that he is truly a great American hero! Congrats, Lefty!

Top 40 for the Week of 3.22.10

This week, Dan Black remains at #1, while Frightened Rabbit and Shooter Jennings see big debuts into the Top 40. Who knows how long Dan Black will retain the coveted number one position! This week’s chart is inspired by Northern Iowa’s Ali Farokhmanesh and his ability to destroy NCAA brackets. I’m losing money over this guy! Who the hell does he think he is? I guess I should stop betting, but that would be logical.

Top 40 for the Week of 3.15.10

This week’s Top 40 sees Dan Black take over the top spot. We also see big debuts from Alkaline Trio, Cedar Avenue, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, as well as the Gorillaz. This week’s Top 40 is brought to you by the shattered World Cup dreams of David Beckham. It’s okay, big guy. Like I always say, there’s always next year! Or, maybe there isn’t…
