Quarantine Takeover – Saleem

Quarantine Takeover – Saleem

This week’s Quarantine Takeover is a study in the sounds of Hip Hop protest. Saleem is bringing back the songs that inspired him and will keep protesters fueled up to demand change in the world. I could introduce him to you as Saleem the emcee, or I could introduce you to him as Saleem the producer. However I think the most apropos title would be Saleem, the dopest emcee on production! Starting out with an ASRX-PRO and a microphone, Saleem has been blazing his trail through hip-hop’s indie scene for several years. Performing with luminaries such as Common, The Roots, KRS-One, Rakim, and The Wu-Tang clan, to name a few, tends to hone and sharpen your skills. These experiences led him to craft his highly regarded debut album, Hip-Hop Revisited. A bold title for a bold project that served as a welcome, and refreshing, introduction into the world of this multifaceted artist; or as one writer described him, “The embodiment of hip-hop’s evolution.”

Quarantine Takeover – Doc Pine & Bobby

Quarantine Takeover – Doc Pine & Bobby

This week we lost control of the studio to Doc Pine and his tiny sidekick Bobby. We’re not sure how but sit back and enjoy Bobby giving Doc Pine the respect he deserves. Doc Pine combines creepy old Appalachian music, off kilter honky-tonk, murder ballads, yodeling, heavy rock jingles, and junkyard blues stomps in the hope of one day getting invited to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. He claims his songs “have been filtered through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, which imparts a distinct smoothness to the music.” He has been cleared of all charges pertaining to a Louisiana bank heist in the summer of ‘09.

Quarantine Takeover Show – Bray

Quarantine Takeover Show – Bray

This week’s Quarantine Takeover Show comes from California! Listen in as Bray spins a mix of his favorites and influences leading into his own tracks. Bray is a singer, songwriter and performer with a unique spin on alt pop rock. Catchy Bowie-esque hooks and driving Foo/Arctic guitar grooves, topped with quirky sardonic lyrics. The touring trio, Bray and the Dens, have toured in 10 countries, had songs placed in 11 national TV shows, and have music videos with more than 4 million views.
