What: Slow Art Day
Where: The Walters Art Museum, 600 N Charles St
When: April 8th, 10am-5pm
Art is a powerful thing, but it’s even more powerful when over 200 museums across the globe come together to let you see art differently. What’s even more powerful? IT’S FREE. From Shanghai to Paris to right here in Baltimore, museums are participating in Slow Art Day to let anyone look at art as long as they want. Stop by the Walters’ Dutch Galleries to look at art for as long as you would like, whether it be 10 minutes or 30 minutes. This collection includes beautiful paintings of the countryside, Abraham Bloemaert’s Parable of the Wheat and the Tares, and Chinese porcelain. As you examine each of these pieces closely you will most definitely discover something new, maybe about the art or maybe about yourself. Afterwards, share what you share in a moderated discussion at 2pm to reflect on the art with other who loved the exhibit just as much as you. Slow Art Day will show you not only alot about art, but also a lot about the community around it.
