Game Summary: Loyola Basketball vs. Dartmouth

On Sunday afternoons, most students are taking the opportunity to catch up on sleep lost from the week. However, the Loyola Men’s Basketball team had something else to do on this particular Sunday. In Reitz Arena, the Greyhounds decided on this sluggish afternoon to take on the Dartmouth Big Greens and beat them 73-59 improving to 2-1. The Hounds are now on a two game winning streak taking two of the three games from the opening home stand.

Jamal Barney, who put up 18 points and 3 rebounds, helped lead the Greyhounds to a victory. As well, Anthony Winbush and Robert Olson both snagged 11 points against the Big Green Defense. Dylon Cormier, Freshman Guard, led the team with 8 rebounds and added 9 points with an assist.

When looking at Dartmouth, who are now 1-3, David Rufful led the team with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jabari Trotter added 12 points as well.

The Greyhounds did a great job holding off the Big Greens in the second half with a surge from the field shooting 61.7%, a team high for the season. They also shot over 60% from the free throw line. Dartmouth, showing exhaustion, performed in the second half poorly by shooting 25% from the field but going 75% from the free throw line.

With this win, Loyola now goes on the road for the first time this season. They will first take on Vermont on a two game road trip Wednesday at 7PM.
