In a dominating effort on both sides of the court, Loyola cruised to a 62-43 win over Patriot League opponent Lafayette on Wednesday night at Reitz Arena.
Tyler Hubbard and Franz Rassman led the scoring for the Hounds, but the real story was the suffocating team defense from the Hounds.
The Greyhounds started the second half strong, going on a 14-0 early in the half, extending their lead to 28. At one point in the game, the Hounds led the Leopards by 30 points.
Loyola’s win against Lafayette keeps them in contention in the very close, highly competitive Patriot League, where first place and last place are separated by just four games.
The Hounds have five more regular season games, and currently sit three games back in the Patriot League. They first travel to Boston University this Valentine’s Day, and then spend their next two games taking on the two top teams in the conference, Bucknell and Colgate.
