Top 40 of 3.4.11

Spring break approaches! So, while you’re tanning on the beach, or flying on the plane, or just being lazy and not working on schoolwork, perhaps you want to enjoy this week’s Top 40 at the same time? Please excuse Conor Oberst’s creepiness in the photo pictured here, because his 2011 release The People’s Key has topped our list yet again!

Theater Thursday: Hippodrome

Shrek the Musical is coming to Baltimore on the final leg of its North American tour, hitting the Hippodrome on March 22nd and running until April 3rd. Based on the 2001 blockbuster smash hit of the same name, Shrek the Musical tells the wholesome tale of a hideous, yet loveable ogre who embarks on quite the journey to save the beautiful Princess Fiona. Blending together moments of action, humor and love, this is a show that the whole family can honestly enjoy. Whether you want to unleash your inner-beast or your inner-child, come down to the Hippodrome before it is too late!

Check out photos and videos from WLOY’s Late Night Concert 2/24!

This past Thursday, Loyola bands Beauty and the Greek and The Palace at 4AM played at our Late Night Concert. The concert drew one of our biggest crowds to date, so if you weren’t there, you missed out on a great show. Luckily for you, I managed to capture some videos of select songs and the talented Katherine Marshall took some great photographs, all of which you can see after the jump!

Tourism Tuesday: Canton

As Loyola students, you may be familiar with the Fells Point and Federal Hill sections of Baltimore. Both are fantastic spots chock full of fun and antiquitous housing. Typically overlooked by the Loyola bandwagon however, is Canton.

Canton is another top notch Baltimore area to explore. Quaint or bombastic depending on what time you visit, Canton is full of distinct shops, restaurants and bars. It’s not far from Fells and slightly more set back from the water.
