Food Fridays: Papermoon Diner

Do you have a craving for some breakfast at one in the morning? Hit up one of Baltimore’s staples: the Papermoon Diner, only a five minute drive from Loyola University. Eccentric in its style and varied in its menu, the Papermoon Diner will have you amazed at the decor literally hanging off the walls as well as tantalized at all of the savory food.

No matter what the time of day, the Papermoon has it all; however, their breakfast is clearly where they shine the most. Breakfast comes in the form of fluffy omelettes featuring a variety of ingredients like (but not limited to) avocado, tomato and bacon or their famous challah French toast. Whether you’re a vegan or a meat-loving fiend, the Papermoon Diner can cater to you!

Theater Thursday: Toby’s Dinner Theatre

Looking for a true weekend experience? With rather talented and professional actors and a delicious buffet for either breakfast or dinner, depending on the show’s starting time, at Toby’s Dinner Theatre you are sure to get the best of both worlds.

This weekend you can catch the last few showings of the theatre’s production of Cats, which ends this Sunday. Featuring some of Toby’s regulars, Cats is sure to be even more momentous than usual with its closing weekend.

Wacky Wednesday: Jewelry Fair at the Walters

Ready to get glammed up? This weekend, Friday November 5th through Sunday November 7th, The Walters Art Museum Jewelry Fair returns for its seventh year.  Ranging from modern to conventional, there’s bound to be something for everyone’s taste.

As one of The Walters’ most anticipated traditions, it will feature 20 of the finest jewelers in the country and bestow an award from the American Jewelry Design Council. There will also be a fashion show, an opening night party and a program called “Finders Keepers” where you can search for hidden jewelry and keep what you find!

Tourism Tuesday: Fort McHenry

Looking for a bit of Baltimore, history and… song? There’s no place quite like Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, the birthplace of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” for the perfect mix of these.

Built to defend the Port of Baltimore from enemy attacks after American won its independence, Fort McHenry played a crucial role during the Battle of Baltimore in 1814. When visiting the fort, you’ll get to view the film “The Defense of Fort McHenry” and see the barracks, the uniforms and even partake in the daily flag change. You’ll also get to tour the fort on your own.

Museum Monday: Port Discovery Children’s Museum

Want to spend the day with the kids? Or unleash that inner kid of your own? Port Discovery Children’s Museum, ranked 4 on the top children’s museums in the United States, is definitely the place to go.

With three floors filled with interactive exhibits, the museum is sure to open up your imagination and inspiration through hands-on activities.  From now through the end of the year, you can find a special Bob the Builder – Project Build It event, fun for kids and families. But there are plenty of permanent exhibits as well, like the adventure expedition that takes you back to Egypt in the 1920s and the life-on-a-farm experience with the Exploramora Exhibit.

WLOY goes to Louisville Part 3

In the third day of the very long and very informative business trip, it can be said that WLOY has really learned so much. Beginning with a 9:00 AM session, the whole crew: Tim, Billy, Christa, and Amanda (excluding Anthony who had a very long and strenuous night dealing with multiple “Business Clients”) went throughout the various conference rooms of the humongous Galt Hotel (which has its fair share of interesting room names such as Spiegel, Sampson, Coe and the like as if we were transferred into the mystical land of Narnia), learning different aspects of the radio world.

Tornado Shelter

“You look very professional at your little desk right now.” – Timothy Teeling

The first phrase I had typed on this post was: “I look ridiculously professional, sitting at the hotel room desk typing out our day two update…” and then I deleted it, because I couldn’t think of what to say after the word “update.” Since Tim walked in and made said observation, however, I think it’s rather fitting.

Upon taking our seats on the flight to Louisville, PR Queen Amanda took notice of the suits sitting around us and quickly proclaimed the CBI Conference a “business trip.” Anthony also took a liking to the idea, and I took a brief hiatus from hyperventilating over the prospect of being 4,000 feet above the ground to lament the absence of matching WLOY briefcases.
