The boys are back in town. By boys we mean Baltimore’s very own Blind Man Leading. Vocals/Guitarist Dave Wentz, Bass player Tyler Wheeler, and Drummer Paul Mercer will be coming this Thursday, October 2nd for the free WLOY Coffeehouse Series. Don’t know what to expect? BML creates melodic, expressive songs that feature bright chords and upbeat, jazz-influenced rhythms. Last year they made an unforgettable Coffeehouse performance performing songs from their newly released EP Swords. Stop by, 9-11pm at the 3rd Floor Reading Room in the student College Center.

Royals Flush A’s in Extra Innings

Wild Card Game - Oakland Athletics v Kansas City RoyalsIt took them 4 hours and 45 minutes and 12 innings, but the Kansas City Royals used their smallball skills to beat the moneyball Oakland A’s, 9-8.

This is the Royals’ first trip to the postseason since 1985, when they won the franchise’s only World Series title. They returned to postseason baseball and certainly put on quite a show for all of the baseball fans, eager for even more great games in this postseason.

It didn’t look too promising for the Royals in the 6th inning, when they suddenly found themselves down 7-3 with the momentum tilting fully towards Oakland.

“You gotta know, I’m feeling love…” the repeated lyrics from Chet Fakers single, ‘Gold’, accurately describe how I feel about the Melbourne, Australia native and his self-produced music making it onto the charts. The relaxed twenty-three year old, Nicholas James Murphy, goes by the stage name of [itunes link=”https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/chet-faker/id439036555?uo=4″ title=”Chet Faker” text=”Chet Faker”]. As there is already an Australian musician by the name of Nick Murphy, he created this stage name in an ode to inspiring jazz musician Chet Baker. Faker took on the name when he uploaded his first cover of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” in 2011.
